Summer days are here at last. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and, just maybe, your four-legged friend is panting up a storm. Keeping your canine cool as a cucumber during these sizzling months is essential. Here are some ideas to ensure that your pooch stays as fresh as a daisy all summer long:
Take a Bath
Who can resist a refreshing dip on a hot day? Set up a child’s paddling pool in the backyard and watch your pup turn into a water-loving wonder. If you do not have a pool, you can give your pup gentle hose-down will do the trick. Just make sure the water is cool, but not cold, so as not to shock your four-legged friend.
Shade and Sip
Create a shady retreat for your dog with a stylish canopy or a big beach umbrella. Throw in a cozy blanket and you have a perfect pup paradise, and do not forget the drinks. Keep a bowl of fresh, cool water on standby. Add some ice cubes for an extra touch of chill.
Fancy Frozen Treats
Humans love iced goodies in summer. You can share the love with you dog. Whip up some frozen dog treats. Blend together some peanut butter, plain yogurt and a bit of water, then freeze in ice cube trays. These chilly snacks are a hit with hounds of all shapes and sizes.
